Brittany Janson, LPC, NCC

Brittany earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Rowan University and her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology with a certification in Child and Family Therapy from Arcadia University.  While working on her master’s degree she was blessed with the opportunity to participate in a short-term study abroad to Tanzania, Africa.  While there she learned about mental health and medical issues that women and children experience from a global perspective.

Prior to entering the mental health field, she worked as a teacher assistant and direct instructor with children and teens with autism spectrum disorder in their homes and schools.  She also worked as an early interventionist/behavioral therapist with children birth to three with global development delays, speech delays, children with autism spectrum disorder and Down’s Syndrome.

Brittany has worked in private practice, mental health outpatient, in home and school settings with children, teens and adults.  She has experience working very closely with school staff, child services, psychiatrists, psychologists, and medical professionals to coordinate care for clients.  She also has experience working with parents and schools to modify IEP and 504 programs to meet the mental health needs of clients.

As a counselor, she believes in building a strong therapeutic relationship with clients and meeting them where they are in their lives.  She believes in working together to improve overall daily functioning and wellness along with restoring health after trauma and life’s difficult moments.  Her goal in therapy is to create a safe space to help clients enhance their stress management, advance their use of coping skills and communication skills, and reframe negative thought processes along with working through any history of trauma.  She is very open to feedback from my clients as I want therapy to be as effective for you as possible.

Brittany believes in utilizing techniques from various treatment modalities so that therapy can be tailored to each individual client.  Treatment modalities used include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Play Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in individual and family counseling.   She is certified as a Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional (CATP) and Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS).
